Milano Hockey Club Kicks Off Its win2day ICE Hockey League Journey Away From Home

On Friday, September 18 in Innsbruck, the first official match in the history of Milano Hockey Club. On Sunday, the second fixture in Linz, also broadcast live on DAZN. The rossoblù's journey begins in the win2day ICE Hockey League.

The moment has arrived.

On Friday, September 18, Milano Hockey Club will officially make its debut in the win2day ICE Hockey League, opening a new chapter in the long history of Milan hockey.

The first match is scheduled for 7:15 PM at the TIWAG Arena in Innsbruck, where coach Doug Shedden's team will face HC TIWAG Innsbruck. Just two days later, on Sunday, September 20 at 4:00 PM, the rossoblù will return to the ice in Austria to face Black Wings Linz at the Linz AG Eisarena.

Two away games within 48 hours to kick off the new Milano Hockey Club's season in the international championship in which a team from the Lombard capital is competing for the first time.

THE DEBUT IN INNSBRUCK, BETWEEN PRESENT AND HISTORY

Friday's game will be a night destined to go down in Club history: for the first time, Milano Hockey Club will take to the ice for an official match.

Innsbruck is also a place already familiar to the team. It was at the TIWAG Arena, from August 18 to 20, that Milano held its first training sessions under Doug Shedden.

On the opposing bench there will also be a familiar face from Milan hockey: Ryan Kinasewich, Innsbruck's current head coach, who wore the Hockey Milano Rossoblu jersey in the 2012/13 season before continuing his career in what was then the EBEL.

But the thread connecting Milan and Innsbruck goes back even further.

In the 1991/92 season, Milano Saima and EV Innsbruck faced each other in the Alpenliga, an international competition that brought together Italian, Austrian, and Slovenian teams. One of the great protagonists of that era was Kevin LaVallée, who left a lasting mark in both cities — winning the Austrian championship in 1989 with Innsbruck and then the Italian Scudetto in 1991 with Milano.

SUNDAY, BACK ON THE ROAD: DESTINATION LINZ

There won't be much time to reflect on the debut. On Sunday, September 20, Milano will be back on the ice, this time at the Linz AG Eisarena, to face Black Wings Linz at 4:00 PM.

The match will also have a special showcase for the Italian audience: Black Wings Linz–Milano HC will be the first Milano Hockey Club match broadcast live on DAZN.

Another small piece of history in a weekend that will officially mark the rossoblù's entry into top international hockey.

A NEW ADVENTURE IN THE ICE HOCKEY LEAGUE

With the addition of Milano Hockey Club, the 2026/27 win2day ICE Hockey League is made up of 14 teams from four countries: Austria, Italy, Hungary, and Slovenia. Milano joins the other two Italian representatives, HC Bolzano Alto Adige Alperia and HC Falkensteiner Pustertal.

The Regular Season features 52 games for each team, 26 at home and 26 away: each team will face each of the other 13 participants four times. The regular season will end on February 24, 2027.

After the 52 matchdays, the top six teams will advance directly to the playoff quarterfinals. Teams ranked seventh through tenth will compete for the last two spots through the best-of-three Pre-Playoffs. Quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final will be played as best-of-seven series.

For Milano, it will be an entirely new journey — one that will begin with a long run of 8 away games before the eagerly awaited debut at the new Fiera Ice Arena in Rho.

WHERE TO FOLLOW MILANO HOCKEY CLUB

Milano Hockey Club's win2day ICE Hockey League matches will be available to stream via Sporteurope.TV, the official platform that allows fans to purchase individual matches and also offers dedicated packages for following the team throughout the Regular Season.

Adding to this coverage is the partnership with DAZN, which in the 2026/27 season will broadcast eight Milano Hockey Club Regular Season matches, as part of an overall package of 24 matches featuring the three Italian ICE Hockey League teams.

All matches included in the project will also be available for free to users without a DAZN subscription. And it starts right away: on Sunday, September 20, at 4:00 PM, with Black Wings Linz–Milano HC.

TOGETHER, TOWARD OUR NEW HOME

As the team prepares to begin its journey in the ICE Hockey League, the "INSIEME!" ("TOGETHER!") season ticket campaign for the 2026/27 season continues as well.

The season ticket includes all 26 Regular Season home games that Milano Hockey Club will play at the Fiera Ice Arena in Rho, with several packages available. Subscriptions are open through Ticketmaster, Milano Hockey Club's Official Ticketing Partner.

The first home game is set for Friday, October 9, when Innsbruck will come to Milan for the debut at the Fiera Ice Arena.

But first, there's a journey to begin.
