Milano HC announces the signing of Italian-Swedish forward Mikael Frycklund, who continues his career in the win2day ICE Hockey League after three seasons with Val Pusteria. With the addition of the national team center, the roster now counts 13 forwards ahead of the club's debut season in the Central European league, which kicks off on September 18.
Born on May 4, 1993 in Västerås, Sweden, 189 cm and 102 kg, left-handed shot, Frycklund came up through the youth ranks of VIK HK, the club of his hometown.
Frycklund spent the majority of his career in Sweden, playing nine full seasons in Allsvenskan (the second tier of Swedish hockey), mainly with Västerås — where he also served as assistant captain — in addition to stints with Asplöven HC, Tingsryds AIF, and MoDo Hockey. He also has two seasons in the SHL, the top tier of Swedish hockey, with Linköping HC.
In 2023 he embarked on his first experience abroad, moving to Italy, where he wore the "Lupi" jersey for three seasons in the ICEHL, establishing himself as one of the offensive leaders of the South Tyrolean side and quickly becoming a fan favorite among the yellow-and-black faithful.
Thanks to his mother's roots in the province of Bergamo, Frycklund obtained Italian citizenship, opening the door to the national team. With the Blue Team, he helped secure promotion to the 2025 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A, before going on to represent Italy at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and the subsequent 2026 IIHF World Championship Top Division.
Over the course of his career, Frycklund has played 447 games in HockeyAllsvenskan, scoring 77 goals and adding 155 assists for 232 points.
In his three seasons in the ICE Hockey League with HC Val Pusteria, he made 165 appearances, recording 39 goals and 56 assists for 95 points, confirming himself as one of the most consistent forwards in the league.
With the Italian national team, across World Championships, Winter Olympics, and preparatory tournaments, he has made 44 appearances, contributing 2 goals and 18 assists. He will wear jersey number 67 at Milano.
